Start Horsing Around

Wonder Valley got its start as a working ranch, so horses have always been an important aspect of life at the facility. The Wonder Valley Equestrian Center provides horses for trail riding, educational horsemanship classes, private lesson series, and seasonal specialty camps, with a trained staff capable of guiding riders of all skill levels .

When you call to make your reservations for your next meeting or vacation getaway at Wonder Valley Ranch Resort, be sure to ask about adding horseback riding to your package.

It’s important to note that you do not have to be an overnight guest to view Wonder Valley from the saddle of a horse.

All trail rides have certain restrictions established for the well-being of the animals and safety of the participants. They are as follows:

• No one under 7 years old
• No one over 250 lbs.
• All rides are guided
• All riders must sign the release form
• All minors (under 18) must have parent’s or legal guardian’s signature
• Minors must wear helmets
• Riders must have closed-toe shoes
• Dresses and skirts are not allowed
• No personal checks

1 hour trail ride $40.00/person ($25.00 per hour/per person for additional hours)

1 hour group trail ride (8 or more riders) $30.00 per person

Stay & Play

Wonder Valley Ranch Resort offers a variety of accommodations clustered throughout the property. The 52 guest rooms range from country cottages to spacious resort-style rooms that overlook the swimming pools and lake or have a view of the surrounding Sierra foothills. Every room features heating and air conditioning, in-room coffee service, telephone, free WiFi Internet access, and satellite TV.

As an option for larger groups, 36 of the rooms can be converted to family- or dormitory-style, each accommodating up to eight people, while still retaining a private bath in each room. This versatility gives the group event coordinators many options for lodging groups of all sizes – or for housing more than one group at a time. Arrangements can also be made for use of the entire Sycamore Building, with access to the central meeting room directly from your private quarters.

Room Descriptions

Cottage Rooms
Quaint cottages with a view of the surrounding foothills from the attached porch. One king bed or two twins. Maximum occupancy 2.

Poolside Rooms
Adjacent to the leisure swimming pool and heated jacuzzi, poolside rooms feature adjoining rooms with tub/showers and multiple bed configurations. Maximum occupancy 4.

Lakeside, Sierra, and Sycamore Rooms
The most spacious rooms feature wall-to-wall vanities with two sinks, walk-in closets, multiple bed configurations, and views of the swimming pool, Dalton Pond, or the surrounding foothills. Maximum occupancy 8.

Sequoia Rooms
Rustic-style rooms adjacent to leisure swimming pool, Sequoia rooms feature one king bed or two twins. Maximum occupancy 2.

With a Central California location just 30 minutes east of Fresno in the Sierra Nevada foothills, Wonder Valley Ranch Resort and Conference Center is about four hours away from both Los Angeles and San Francisco. You could not ask for a more central location for a business conference, wedding, or vacation getaway.

FROM FRESNO/CLOVIS: From Fwy 41 north or south, take the Fwy 180 (Kings Canyon) exit. Drive EAST through Fresno until the 180 Fwy turns into a two lane highway (Kings Canyon Rd.) near Temperance Avenue. Drive EAST on Kings Canyon Rd. past the Academy Avenue intersection (controlled by a stop-light). Continue on Kings Canyon Rd. approximately 7 miles, and just after crossing the Kings River bridge, turn LEFT on Piedra Rd. Travel approximately 8 miles and turn RIGHT on Elwood Rd. Follow Elwood 5 miles and Wonder Valley Ranch Resort will be on your left.

FROM NORTHERN CALIFORNIA/BAY AREA: From the north, take Fwy 99 south to the Fwy 180 (Kings Canyon) exit. Drive EAST through Fresno until the 180 Fwy turns into a two lane highway (Kings Canyon Rd.) near Temperance Avenue. Turn RIGHT on Kings Canyon and drive 5 miles to Piedra Rd. Turn LEFT on Piedra and go 5 miles. Turn RIGHT on Elwood Rd. Follow Elwood 5 miles and Wonder Valley Ranch Resort will be on your left.
